- Summary: why does an A1000 RGB drop to amber?
-
- Hi all. For the technically knowledgeable, here's a problem: I have an
- amiga 1000 monitor hooked up to a 2000. This is an RGB from the original
- amigas as sold in the mid '80s by commodore USA. I had no problems with
- it for years, including several years hooked up to the 2000. Recently
- it has started to inexplicably render everything in amber instead of
- colour. Since this monitor doesn't have an amber mode, I just don't get it.
-
- Also, wiggling the RGB cable doesn't solve anything, at either the
- machine or monitor end. Likewise tightening the cables has no result.
- BUT, here's a strange thing! Pinching the RCA type video (composite) and
- audio (mono) jacks together causes normal colour to return!! Note the
- connection from the amiga is to the RGB port, not the composite jack.
-
- Can anyone make any suggestion about how to fix this? I don't even think
- it would be possible to find someone to service the monitor where I'm
- living (if at all), and I'm getting real tired of amber!
-
- Please respond by email to pierceb@unbc.edu if possible. Thanks so much,
-
